What member count says on Discord
Member count is a permanent metric and it sets the perceived scale of a server. Someone opening an invite link sees that number first and forms an initial judgement about whether the server is worth joining from it.
But member count alone is not enough. The second number a visitor reads is how many members appear online right now, and the relationship between the two is what tells them whether the server is alive. A server with 20,000 members and nobody online reads as an abandoned room to whoever just arrived.

Preparing the invite link correctly
Almost every delivery problem on Discord orders traces back to a badly prepared invite link, and all of them are preventable. Discord’s default invite expires after seven days and in some cases carries a use limit. If it expires while delivery is running, the order stalls.
You therefore need an invite with expiry set to Never and max uses set to No limit. Opening the finished link in a logged-out browser window to confirm it works is a good habit before ordering.

Server settings that block delivery
Even with the right invite link, server settings can stop delivery. If membership screening, a high verification level or a rules-acceptance gate is enabled, newly joined accounts sit in a waiting area and never appear in the member list.
Auto-moderation bots can have the same effect: an aggressively configured bot will kick new joins outright. Relaxing these settings for the duration of the order and restoring them afterwards is the practical and safe approach.

Making the server worth joining
Numbers get people through the door; structure keeps them there. Three things determine whether a new member stays past the first minute.
The first is a legible channel structure: a server with forty channels overwhelms a newcomer, while a handful of clearly named ones converts far better. The second is an obvious first action — introduce yourself here, pick roles there. The third is visible recent activity: a new member scrolls up, and if the last message was three weeks ago they leave regardless of the member count.
