Twitch has three distinct forms of viewing and three distinct counters. Live viewers exist only while the stream is open and reset when it ends. A VOD is the recording of a stream and its views accumulate permanently. A clip is a short excerpt cut from a stream with its own view counter.
Knowing the distinction matters when ordering, because each is a separate service line in the panel and each requires a different link type. Live viewers work with a channel name; clip and VOD views work with the content’s own address.

Accounting for VOD retention periods
Twitch does not keep stream recordings indefinitely. On standard accounts VODs are deleted automatically after a set period; on Turbo and Partner accounts that period is longer. Clips, by contrast, are permanent and survive even after the VOD is gone.

Mistakes to avoid
The most common mistake is submitting a channel address instead of a clip address. Clip view services only work with a single-item address; a channel name either fails to process or gets confused with the live viewer service.
The second is loading views alone. A clip with high views and no shares looks inconsistent. The third is ordering for a VOD that is about to be deleted.
